In year 2007, it was decide to implement the land title registration as a national program. Subsequently “Bim Saviya” having commenced in 2007 is now being implemented covering the whole island within 15 years time.
Title registration has been commenced in areas such as Gampaha, Negambo, Rathnapura, Gampola, Anuradhapura, Homagama, Delkada, Kurunegala, Kandy and Hambanthota.
Title registration is being carried out using computerized system and therefore it is easier in making subsequent transfers. This program will be in operation in long term on Divisional Secretariat basis extending its limits year by year. When introducing this program to one Divisional Secretariat awareness programs are conducted together with all other connected Departments. Further, the officers of the Department have conducted awareness program on title registration on several occasions time to time.
