Under the e-population project every citizen will have an unique identification number at the birth which will store information about the individual. This will be updated at every moment (Marriage, Death) of the individual. This will be the primary database which contains information regarding all resident in Sri Lanka. |

| Progress: |
Project was initiated and coordinates by the Ministry of Public Administration and Home affairs and ICTA. Ernst and Young was appointed to provide consultancy services for process re-engineering detailed system study, analysis and design an information system. Functional areas to be covered under the project are,
1. Birth system
2. Marriage system
3. Death system.
4. Change of address
5. Statistics and Reporting
6. Population Register
