As part of the continuous digital transformation program of the Government of Sri Lanka, the Registrar Generals' Department (RGD) has officialy extended its electronic Birth, Marriage, and Death Registration System (eBMD) to Sri Lankan Foreigh Missions.
Effective from February 7, 2025, Sri Lankan citizens residing overseas can now obtain certified original copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates registered in Sri Lanka directly through the nearest Sri Lankan Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence.
This milestone marks an important step forward in the Department's digitalization journey and demonstrates Sri Lanka's strong commitment to providing citizen-friendly, efficient, and globally accessible public services through digital innovation.
